A Reporter’s Secret Weapon

Remember when your parents made you write all of those thank you notes to distant relatives you still don’t know the names of? It turns out that it wasn’t as crazy as you previously thought. Vince Duffy, RTDNA Chairman Elect focuses on the importance of sending hand-written thank you notes in his latest post on the Radio Television Digital News Association website.

Duffy argues that in today’s society where we are in constant digital communication with one another, the hand-written note stands out and will leave a lasting impression with the recipient.

Needless to say, you don’t need to send one to EVERY person you come into contact with. Duffy writes, “Can you imagine Woodward and Bernstein writing a thank you note to President Nixon – ‘Hey Dick, thanks for setting us up for life….'”
